The morning I got my cow we got up late! Like 5:30 late and it usually gets light out at 5:45. We
got ready and went over to our tree stands. When we got there, the cows were not bulging at
all... I decided to leave my dad and my brother at their stands and took off for my tree stand
between two ridges and on the edge of a little clearing. My dad and my brother’s tree stands
were on the ridge in front of me. I got into my tree stand at about 6:45 or 7:00. After about thirty
minutes, I heard a bull parking from the ridge in front of me. The bull had busted something; that
something turned out to be someone - my brother and my dad! I heard a bunch of crashing
coming off the ridge, so I tried to see through the trees on my left. I saw elk after elk pass over
the old logging road! As they got to the side by my tree stand, they stopped, looked around and
trotted toward me. So, I got my bow ready, they passed right behind me about ten yards. I
thought they would walk in front of me…. But they, stopped again, looked around, and trotted up
the hill at angle. I stood up, pulled back, put the pen on her and let the arrow fly! I saw the arrow
hit but, I couldn't find her. So, I headed back to the truck to tell my brother and my dad what had
happened. They said to wait a few hours and go back again. As we waited, the hours went by
very, very, very slowly… we walked back and forth, until, in the distance, I saw the arrow fall out.
It was covered with blood and hair, but it was not the whole arrow. It was less than half the
arrow! What an awesome blood trail, I was so glad I finally found her. Here she is!
