My first Yote for the season.
Went out this morning about 6:30am to try out my new Foxpro Mighty Mouse that I just got
from All Predator Calls. A great little tool for your bag of tricks...

The weather has started to cool down and it was pretty much overcast, with a slight breeze
out of the south at about 3 mph. I went down the street from my house to some usually good
spots.

Stand #1, was a big nothing after 25 minutes of hand calling and letting the MM play its tune.

Stand #2, I moved about 200 yards from #1 into the thick junipers. I set out the MM about 25
yards and set the 60 second delay (neat feature) and sat down. I'm shooting my 12-gauge
Mossberg 500 camo with 3" Dead Coyote loads.

After about 30 seconds of the MM playing I blew my mini blaster for a 15 second series and waited for a
minute or so. After about 3 minutes of calling off and on, Mr. Yote shows up downwind and crosses a
trail to my right about 40 yards away. He's between the junipers so I can't shoot. I watch and he's comes
back and starts to circle behind me, I'm real surprised he hasn't got my scent yet but sure enough he
pops out to my left upwind at about 70 yards into a clearing. He's lookin for the MM no doubt, and I hit
my squeeker. He looks at me then trots off. As he crosses a dirt road heading north I follow him and now
see a nice bobcat that is sneaking towards the MM about 20 yards in front of me. I'm pretty pumped up
by now. The bobcat slowly and at a crouch moves in front of a juniper right in front of me. Now I see a
shadow appear to my right and here is MR. Yote who pops out between two junipers and looks at me.
The wind swirls a little and he starts to run, I hit him as he is running away at about 35 yards and down
he goes. He doesn't even twitch.
Mr. Bobcat is gone and that's ok because season doesn't open until Oct 15th. Hats off the
Foxpro Mighty Mouse for it's first field test. Indeed a great tool when you want to use your
hand calls too!!! Here is the Yote, he looks like last years model and his fur is coming in real
nice for winter.
