Feather Removing Wax
Pete Rickards 5 pound block of is perfect for removing those annoying pins on your ducks, geese, turkey and waterfowl trophies. Pete Rickard's Wax will remove downy feathers and pin feathers and is the primary wax base used easily in the defeathering process using wax only by we recommend combining the wax with the hot water method (25% wax / 75%) water.
To defeather an average sized Duck / Geese requires approximately 1 pound of wax for every 8-12 birds.
Wax may be remelted, strained and reused

Reccommended process: Once most of the feathers are removed by the plucker or hand.
The wax mixture should be heated to between 150°F and 185°F, depending on the age of the Duck / Geese.
Allow for the wax to melt and surface to the top than dip into a wax mixture for 10–30 seconds, moving it backwards and forwards in the wax to ensure the most wax to the bird.
After the dipping step hang the bird by the legs to drain. Doing this will speed up the wax- hardening process.
Dip the bird in ice cold water for 1 - 5 minutes.
Bend the neck back over the body to crack the wax, then peel off the wax and the remaining feathers.
**Note: If wax & water temperatures is too high you will find the wax coating on the bird will be too thin, if your coating is too thin than increase the temperature of the mixture.***
