SCENT-AMMO & Hoyes Products @ www.huntmdown.com
How does it work?
SCENT-AMMO
® works on the electron charge found in all matter. But, SCENT-AMMO® has a strong selectivity to Nitrogen and
Ammonium ions and just like a magnet, it pulls them out of urine and holds them.

How long will it last?
SCENT-AMMO®
has an indefinite shelf life until you use it. Remember, it doesn't Dissolve, doesn't Fizz, it just takes the Bad Stuff Out
of Whizz. So, after you use it, the pellets are holding the nitrogen and ammonium ions, dispose of the used
SCENT-AMMO® properly
after use.

Can you provide a list of the different scents that you've tested?
Yes. Refer to the SCENT-AMMO® chart.

Will it work on all deer urines in the same way?
Pretty much so...depending on the age of the urine and what the scent manufacturer added to the urine. But, in all cases, it will still
focus on the nitrogen and ammonium ions and absorb them. Two things that will slow down the removal of Ammonia in your favorite
hunting scent are:
  • When salt (such as Sodium Benzoate) has been added as a preservative or attractant. Salt actually changes the "charge" in the
urine. Salt, because it changes the charge, will slow down the process of SCENT-AMMO® to absorb the ammonium ions...
Therefore, requiring a little more SCENT-AMMO® and a little more time to absorb ammonium ions in the urine.
  • Also, if an acid has been added to the urine, it will naturally form a salt in the urine... Because the combination of any acid with
any base (urine with Ammonia) will always form a salt.
What's so important about removing nitrogen and ammonia in urine scent?
The most important reason is because nitrogen bonds with hydrogen in the urine and forms ammonia. You don't want Nitrogen to
bond with Hydrogen because Hydrogen, Carbon and Oxygen are primary in the trailing scent.

Are there any that you couldn't repair?
In most cases a long time. If you get the right amount of urine scent with the right amount of SCENT-AMMO® it will absorb the
nitrogen and ammonium ions that are available in the urine. The age of urine plays a big part on how long it will take for
SCENT-AMMO® to absorb the ammonia in the urine. Several of the national brands of deer urine taken to the AMO (Archery
Manufacturers and Merchants Organization) show in January 2000, and SCENT-AMMO® is still holding all of them at a neutral pH 7.

I purchased SCENT-AMMO® and used the pH test kit that comes
with it. It lowered the pH, but not all the way to neutral. How
come?
  • You probably need to use a little more SCENT-AMMO® or a little
less urine scent. Urine typically comes out of the animal (Deer,
Elk, Fox, Etc.) between 6.8 pH and 7.2 pH.

When you first tested your deer scent and you could smell ammonia, the
pH was at around 9.5 pH, which is 500 times more caustic than when it
came out of the animal.
  • SCENT-AMMO® can repair urine (deer, elk, fox, coyote, raccoon,
PEOPLE) from 9.5 down to a range of 7.0 (pH neutral). If it is
animal waste and NOTHING ELSE, SCENT-AMMO® works best
to absorb the Nitrogen and Ammonium Ions. SCENT-AMMO® can
even repair a urine-based scent with added salt and other additives.

Note, salt will slow down the process to absorb Ammonia in the
urine-based scent. SCENT-AMMO® doesn't have to reduce the pH
all the way back to neutral to have removed the Ammonia.
  • If the scent is below an 8 pH, that's a reasonable pH and 1/10 as
caustic as when it was above a 9 pH.
9.5 pH when I first tested it?
Because if you could smell ammonia in the scent it had to
be at around 9.5 pH. Aqueous (liquid) ammonia and
Gaseous (gas) Ammonia are at equilibrium at around 9.5
pH. So, you wouldn't have been able to smell ammonia
unless it was that high.
